Creem vs Paddle: fees and Merchant of Record comparison

Creem has the lower public transaction fee in our domestic-card example. Paddle is worth comparing when its software billing and service arrangements better fit your requirements. Both are Merchants of Record, so check product approval, subscription workflows, and payout terms alongside price.

Disclosure: Creem sponsors this site. Its fees use the same assumptions as the other providers, and its limitations are included below.

What would a $10,000 month cost?

These are the same fee rules used by the payment picker calculator. The example is 200 one-time orders at $50 each, paid with US domestic cards for a US business. No sales tax is collected. It excludes subscriptions, refunds, disputes, payouts, currency conversion, and optional services.

How should you read the price difference?

The table applies both public rates to the same month without tax. Creem charges its percentage on the tax-inclusive order value. If your customers pay tax, comparing the percentage against your product price alone understates that fee.

Neither number is a promise about the payout reaching your bank. Check payout charges, disputes, refunds, currencies, and your provider agreement. A different order size changes the weight of the fixed charge too.

What would make Creem a good fit?

Consider Creem if you sell an eligible SaaS or digital product and its checkout and billing features cover your requirements. Test the product workflow you need, including renewals and access changes, before choosing it for the rate.

If affiliates, license keys, or revenue splits matter to the business, include them in that test. Confirm your seller country and payout arrangements early.

What would make Paddle a good fit?

Consider Paddle when its subscription model, integration, support, or migration arrangements suit your software business. Ask about the concrete workflows you depend on rather than assuming all Merchants of Record offer interchangeable billing.

Switching a live product solely for the example fee difference can leave you with migration work and customer disruption. Get a plan for active subscriptions and old invoices before moving.
