RGB color codes

An RGB color code combines red, green, and blue channels. In the common 8-bit form, each channel goes from 0 to 255: rgb(255 0 0) is red, rgb(0 255 0) is lime, and rgb(0 0 255) is blue.

The table below lets you look up CSS color names, hex codes, and their RGB decimal values.

How do RGB color codes work?

CSS supports the modern space-separated syntax:

.red {
  color: rgb(255 0 0);
}

.half-transparent-red {
  color: rgb(255 0 0 / 50%);
}

The older comma-separated form, such as rgb(255, 0, 0), still works for compatibility. The optional value after / is the alpha channel: 0% is fully transparent and 100% is fully opaque.

Hex uses the same sRGB channels written in base 16. For example, decimal 255 is FF, so rgb(255 0 0) and #FF0000 describe the same red.
