I moved Prototyped to [flaviocopes.com/software](https://flaviocopes.com/software/).

I originally launched Prototyped as a store. Each product was a one-time $20 purchase.

No one bought any of them in one week.

We need to move fast these days. It was clear this was not going to work.

All the software is now free. You join my newsletter once, then you can access the complete download library.

Each project still includes the full source code, tests, documentation, and instructions for coding agents.

## Why I made everything free

Charging for each product added more ceremony than I expected.

Every release felt like a bigger commitment. I had to decide if a small tool was substantial enough to sell, prepare it as a paid product, and make promises around it.

That made me less confident about releasing small things.

Making the software free removes that pressure. I can release something useful, see if people use it, improve it, or let it stay small.

There is less commitment for me and less friction for you.

Free software is also more likely to be used.

That is the best outcome for this kind of thing. I want people to download the code, run it, study it, change it, and perhaps turn it into something else.

Moving everything here also makes the whole project simpler. Prototyped no longer needs a separate storefront or a separate brand to maintain.

It is now just [software I made](https://flaviocopes.com/software/), available alongside my books and courses.

Let's see where it goes.
